Sightseeing
Our basic aim was to restore old printing machines and devices to life and make them work again. You will not find any “dead corps” at the wall, bacause all the machines work perfectly. The Printing Museum in Cieszyn is OPEN.
Beside visiting, the museum offers an especially elaborated programme for young visitors – pupils from primary and secondary schools. Within one hour they visit the museum and witness the creation of prints by an archaic way; from the types set by hand, then mechanically obtained cast of types to the final printout.
During the presentation the pupils get important historical information concerning the development of the “black art”. We tell them about significant discoverers like Jan Gutenberg, Ottmar Morgenthaller and others. We also present the “fathers of printing industry” in the Cieszyn Silesia recalling such names as Fabian Beinhauer and Prochaska Family stressing the influence of typography on the history of our region.
